In 1819 a patent was issued for a "turnable" coffee maker, also known as "overturning". This method is universally known as "Neapolitan" and consists of two containers coupled with a boxed filter interposed; the water is boiled and then the assembly is rotated allowing the water to percolate slowly through the ground coffee.
This kind of brewed coffee is on basically stronger than a filter, but much depends on the shape of the coffee maker and the type of coffee used (for example in Naples it is roasted very dark).
Coffee maker made in Paris, about 1890 called “Potsdam boiler" or "Russian Egg."
